Last night, I had a great dinner with the director of operations at Salem Web Network. He mentioned that on a recent trip to Dallas, his flight had in-flight wireless internet access. He said it made his flight very productive.
When I boarded my plane this afternoon, I noticed that there were signs advertising in-flight internet on my flight. I decided to check it out. GoGo InFlight is AMAZING! The first trial is free, so I signed up to browse the web.
Our flight took off about 50 minutes late due to a large thunderstorm. The pilot announced also that over Alberquerque (sp?) we were diverting around another large weather system. So I will miss my connector flight out of Phoenix. Toby was planning going up to Santa Barbara in the afternoon and running a bunch of errands until my flight landed. So I was crazy to get a message to her that I wouldn’t be on that flight. With the in-flight wireless internet, we were able to send emails and even Instant Message about the change in plans.
Additionally, I have a program on my laptop called Connectify that turns your computer into a wireless hotspot. This means, that if I wanted to, I could re-broadcast the GoGo Inflight WiFi, allowing any other computer to share the GoGo InFlight WiFi. I love it!
