Max and I did our first Boy Scout backpacking trip last weekend. We went into the Los Padres National Forest at the Piedra Blanca Trailhead.
After spending the Friday night under the stars on the sandstone rocks themselves, we hiked about a hour to Twin Forks campground. I went geocaching on my own and Max and most of the other younger scouts worked on their fire making skills as well as stick whittling.
Sunday morning we hiked out and peeeeeyew! The six of us in the van really stank after only the 2 and half days. The windows were rolled down for most of the way home. I guess more than a ‘smoke bath’ is needed for adolescent boys. . .
It was a good time and I look forward to the next backpacking trip. I will be better prepared with my GPS so I can record where we went.
