New Orleans 2015–Day 1

We got to the Quarter House Hotel earlier than expected.  While we waited for Jan to come back from dinner to let us in, we took in a bit of the city.  There are 3 bars in the 3 spaces to the left of the front of the hotel, 1 jazz club and 2 restaurants to the right of the entrance.  What a city.

Our activity for today was kayaking on the St. John’s Bayou with Kayak-iti-yat on the Big Easy Bayou Tour.  It was a lot of fun and there was a lot to see.  But it was cold.  The temperature barely got to 60 degrees today.  We had to all go out to buy warmer clothes.

New Orleans 2015– Travelling

We made it to New Orleans on United with a minimum of hassle.  But when we arrived, this is what we saw for eats in the airport.  For me, not a good omen. . . I mean, really?  Crawfish Strudel?  <shiver>

Pre-Avo Fest 2015

2015 is Carpinteria’s 50th birthday as a city.  In the week before the Avocado Festival, there were various celebrations.  It culminated in a ‘locals only’ day of the Avo Fest on Thursday.  They brought in a Ferris Wheel that took Roly and I high above Linden Avenue.
