Happy Ultrasound!

We all 4 got to see our little widget at the 20 week ultrasound yesterday.  All is good – thanks be to God.  The doctor was sweetly careful to honor our request and not scan the area of the baby that would give away the gender.  I figure, if you are going to push out a watermelon, it is nice to get a surprise.

Here’s a great picture – he/she saying, "Oy Vay!  How did I get into this crazy family!"

Getting Her Kicks…

Lucy was in the right place and time the other night. I was getting repeatedly kicked in the same spot of my belly, and I had her come over and feel. She felt it and her eyes lit up – super cute. Max is waiting for his turn now…

I’m 21 weeks now, by the by.   Please pray for my sleep – I haven’t slept through the night but once in the last 3 weeks.  I lose 2 or more hours every night and it is getting brutal.

During Our Field Trip to Whole Foods…

On Wednesday, our group of homeschool kindergartners and siblings enjoyed a very thorough and snack-filled tour of the new Whole Foods store in Santa Barbara.  My favorite part was when we met the meat guy, who showed us an entire lamb leg and told us about how bison meat is lean like chicken.  Later he asked, ‘are there any more questions?’  One boy (not sure who) piped up with, ‘do you think we will win the Gulf War?’  He laughed and was quite surprised; said ‘I’m sure we will.’

Who would have known that Whole Foods could incorporate history as well?

Thanksgiving Downstairs

We couldn’t wait.  Although we are not finished downstairs, we decided to have a thankful Thanksgiving dinner in the new space.  Our wonderful friends, the Allens, joined us.

After a great meal prepared by Toby and Steph, we went down to Rincon Beach to walk it off.  The web descriptions of this beach describe it as ‘often covered with driftwood’.  Here is a driftwood structure that the kids enjoyed playing in.

One of the things that Toby wanted to do on this day was to take a family picture.  Toby had some crazy ideas for what she wanted.

Comic Strip Siblings

Max has started drawing comic strips.  Lucy was inspired yesterday to do one as well.  This is one of her and buddy Emma going to Vons, the shopping mall, the hair styler and the candy shop.

Max has created a character named ‘Phony’ who is based on Shaggy from Scooby Doo.  Here’s his strip of Phony’s search for some food at a strange diner.

Here’s a zoomed in clip of one of the squares – of a van liked Scooby and Shaggy’s Mystery Machine.
