And we have moved up to the loft.
And we have moved up to the loft.
Work continues…
We are using special drywall to reduce the possiblity of mold growing on the walls. National Gypsum Gold Bond XP is designed to be mold resistant. To distinguish this product from others, the exterior of the drywall is purple. When we were getting bids, some of the contractors didn’t know what ‘National Gypsum Gold Bond XP‘ was, but every single one knew about ‘purple drywall’

We knew that getting the drywall up to the 2nd floor and the loft would be a challenge because of the layout. Then the drywallers wanted to use 4 x 12 foot sheets of drywall. Wow, those sheets are heavy. We didn’t have turn-around room enough for 12′ pieces, so the supply house (Bedrock) rep decided that the sheets would need to be lifted over the garage and brought in through the 2nd floor balcony.
When the rep was checking out the situation late last week, they arrived at 6:40 am. I was in the shower and Toby came to get me. I told them that the family was sleeping below and that we didn’t want anyone going upstairs before 7:30a. Toby called me this morning to report that at 7:31am the stomping on the stairs began. I am (and Toby is) very grateful that they honored our schedule.
The first picture below shows that it was a good thing that we worked hard to get the backyard cleaned up.
They start hanging the drywall tomorrow. I can’t wait to get home from work!
