Worker Boy

A couple of weeks ago Max helped trim up a plant in the backyard. The plant was going to be in the way of the walking space, so we ended up cutting it down all together. Max was very good with the reciprocating saw.

Here is a close up of his concentrating face.

Wow! The backyard is back.

Pop brought the truck up this weekend and we loaded it with all kinds of scrap / trash from the project.  We filled up the bed of his truck to nearly overflowing.  The trailer has been very useful for us.  But in order to get the drywall up to the second floor we need to get a big truck with a boom to go over the garage.  The truck will need to park in the space that the trailer occupies, so the trailer has to go.

After a morning-plus of cleanup the back yard has re-emerged like a phoenix arising from the flames – better than ever.  This is the new and improved back yard that does not need to be used as a driveway, since the garage doors are on the alley wall.

Thanks Pop.

Why is Toby so happy?

What does our van have to do with Toby being happy?

Toby is exceedingly happpy because last week, Pop took the initiative to clean up the last bit of junk that was left in our garage from the windows and lumber and such.  This means that she is able to park the van in our garage again!  The last time that she was able to park in the garage was before the midnight lumber delivery.  It is the happiest that she has been in a long time.

Thanks Pop.

The Insulation is complete (mostly)

Oscar with Broken Drum Insulation finished up our insulation yesterday, mostly.  I say mostly because apparently we forgot to frame up a knee wall in a closet and he didn’t insulate the dog house closet.  But mostly everywall and ceiling is insulated with R-19 or R-30 even though the plans only call for R-13.

The Insulation is Coming! The Insulation is Coming!

This weekend was hard work.  I was by myself (Poppa took a vacation, the nerve!)  I spent most of Saturday and all of Sunday cleaning up the insides in preparation for the the insulation to be installed.  The kids helped.  They especially liked throwing the wood scraps out of the second floor window.

Monday morning before work, I got up early and took pictures of every wall (I hope).  The idea is that when the walls are covered I will be able to tell exactly what is in the walls and where (pipes, electrical, backing board, etc).  Below is an example of the 89 shots I took.  Did you want to see all 89?
