He is not so happy after the haircut, but Mom and Dad think he looks pretty good.

Max received a Flip video camera for his birthday last month.  He has been filling up the camera with short little films.  One fun thing about this camera is that it comes with some very simple video editing software.  Last night, I finally had some time to show Max how to use the software.  The below is what we came up with together while learning the software.

This camera takes good quality movies (unlike some other cameras we have) so the full screen quality is pretty good, if you’d like.  But just to warn you, the kids move the camera really fast, so you might get dizzy in some spots.

Her eardrums are pretty sensitive, we’ve noticed, with her new brother’s pterodactyl-like screams.  During one particularly ear-piercing bout of Roly’s hunger screeches, Lucy exclaimed, "Why can’t he use some self-control?!"

Toby had an idea earlier this week: since we would no longer need any baby girl clothes we should have a yard sale.  She and the kids gathered clothes, toys, etc, cleaned them up.   Then we set them out in the street in front of our house.

Of course, Toby didn’t start at the normal yard sale time of 7:30a, but at 8:50a, we had a few people going through the pile of girl clothes, looking for deals at 25¢ / piece.

While Toby sold the clothes, the kids had contributed some toys and were keeping track of what they sold.  Lucy unloaded many stuffed animals, while Max’s old trucks made some little boys happy.

At 10a, I took went to Starbucks to get Toby a little pick-me-up : a venti double raspberry mocha.  Max went and wanted an iced vanilla cream, and I got Lucy an iced strawberry cream, and since the drink carrier holds 4, I got a double chocolaty chip drink for myself.  I thought for sure that this trip to Starbuck’s would decimate the profits from the yard sale.

While Starbuck’s didn’t kill the profits, something else *almost* did (and then some).  At about 10:30a, the code compliance officer came down the street with his citation book in hand.  Toby had put up a sign at the corner, and signs on our trashcans.  Both of which are apparently no-nos in Carpinteria.  Signs/flyers cannot be attached to Stop signs or telephone poles and trash cans are only allowed on the street the day of pickup.  Additionally, tables are not allowed in the street (but OK on the sidewalks).  Each of these are $100 first offenses.  Fortunately, he decided to give us a warning.  Whew!

We finished up at about 11a.  We sold a lot of stuff, but have a lot of girl clothes still.  We are going to give it all away.  If you know someone who needs 0 –5 year old girl clothes, drop a line quickly, before it gets donated.
